We were impressed yet again by our SLHS Rotary Student of the Month! Congrats and a job well done to Jacob Kotkowicz!

Jacob Kotkowicz, son of Kimberly Arsenault and George Kotkowicz, has been named Spring Lake High School’s Rotary Student of the Month for May. He will be honored by the Spring Lake Rotary at their May 5 luncheon.

Involvement in NHS, Scouts, clubs, and his community are an integral part of Jacob’s life.  He is a scholar, leader and volunteer.

Jacob excels academically, maintaining a 4.00 GPA earning a spot on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for the past 3 years and entrance into The National Honor Society.

He is involved in many school and community related extracurricular activities where he holds leadership and volunteer positions such as the NHS, Business Professionals of America, Varsity Soccer and the Muskegon Area Honors Orchestra where he plays the violin.  Jacob also has leadership roles in service projects through Scouts BSA.  He was awarded the Eagle Scout Award through Scouts BSA, was a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist, and was recently honored as a Senior Scholar by the GHACF at the Excellence in Education Dinner.

Jacob has also been working as a certified United States Soccer Federation referee and has officiated many youth club and recreational level soccer games.

Being diligent, resourceful and a free thinker has helped Jacob become the strong young leader he is today.  Jacob plans on attending Brown University this fall to study molecular and cellular biology.  After his undergraduate studies, he intends to attend medical school.
