Noor Baria, daughter of Ricky and Angie Baria, has been named Spring Lake High School’s Rotary Student of the Month for October.

Noor Baria, daughter of Ricky and Angie Baria, has been named Spring Lake High School’s Rotary Student of the Month for October.

She will be honored by the Spring Lake Rotary at its Oct. 28 luncheon.

Baria is described as a scholar, leader and volunteer, who is involved in Student Council, school sports and clubs, and her community. Academically, she maintains a 3.8 GPA, earning a spot on the school’s honor roll for the past three years and entrance into the National Honor Society. She has challenged herself with several AP courses as well.

Baria is involved in many school-related extracurricular activities where she holds leadership and volunteer positions such as Student Council, BPA, NHS, school publication program, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and the athletic leadership team.

She is also a young leader in the community. Baria is heavily involved in community service projects including in the Sikh community, such as Seva (a service giving to the less fortunate) and the Sikh Gudwara clean-up. She also helps out with soup drives and many more community service fundraisers.

Traveling is one of her passions. She has traveled to many countries including Greece, Italy, Mexico and India. She speaks four languages and is proficient in Spanish. She says being well traveled and being versed in different languages gives her a deeper insight and appreciation in other cultures.

Baria plans on attending a four-year college in the medical field with a major of psychology and hopes to work mainly in pediatrics.
