Employers Association of West Michigan

                Our guest speaker was Lisa Sabourin, President/CEO of the Employers Association of West Michigan.  Lisa joined the organization back in 1993 in a part-time summer position.  Through the years she developed the necessary skills to help guide area employers through the maze of employment regulations and practices, and was elevated to President back in 2005.  Aside from being a full-time employee and mother of two boys, Lisa is an active Rotarian in the Muskegon Club. 
               
                The Employers Association of West Michigan is a non-profit that was founded in 1915, and is based in Muskegon, Michigan.  Lisa and her staff provide area employers with the information necessary to recruit, hire, manage and retain personnel.  Members receive survey data, training and development, compliance assistance, and professional group forums via roundtable meetings.  The focus is on 1) Compliance; including policies, pay and benefits 2) Recruiting; including use of data and technology, videos and testimonials, and best practices for moving quickly on job offers to the right candidates 3) Learning & Development; including needs analysis, focus on leaders within the organization, and using the right trainers 4) Talent Management; including performance reviews, and concentrating on goal achievement instead of pay 5) Engagement & Experience; including organizational design, tech/social media usage, and employee recognition.
