The Spring Lake Rotary Club is proud to present November's Student of the Month award to Gracie VanLangevelde!

Gracie VanLangevelde, daughter of David and Michelle VanLangevelde, has been named Spring Lake High School’s Rotary Student of the Month for November. She was honored by the Spring Lake Rotary at their November 9th meeting.

Gracie’s passions are academics, volunteerism and soccer.  Gracie currently carries a 4.0 gpa which has earned her a place on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll every trimester of her academic career. She continues to challenge herself with AP courses as well as Dual Enrollment courses.  Gracie has been a member of National Honor Society and Student Council for three years, currently serving as the Student Council President. Finally, for the past two school years she has served as a student athletic trainer.

Setting a goal of 400 volunteer hours, Gracie has already given over 350 hours of her time to the Midwest United Mentor Program, SL soccer camp, the Carter Dyke and Mike Herman Memorial Soccer Camp, Kids Food Basket, Students Live United and the Big Brothers Big Sisters lunch buddy program. She participated in the Spring Lake Relief trip in June of 2018.   Gracie is also an active four year member of Interact, currently serving as an advisor.  Plans are already underway for Gracie in her second year organizing the Toys for Teens program.

As you can see by her volunteer experience, soccer is a passion for Gracie.  She has played Midwest United Club soccer since 2015 and attended the Midwest United US Soccer Development Academy Soccer Program.  She has earned her varsity letter as well as the honor of All District First Team.  Gracie plans to continue playing soccer after high school as she has committed to play at Michigan Tech University where she plans to study Exercise Science.
